Princess Kate has missed an expected appearance at Royal Ascot, in what would have been her return to the horse-racing event after she battled cancer.
Prince William stepped out at Royal Ascot on Wednesday, June 18, without his wife. The Princess of Wales, who in January announced that her cancer was in remission, had been listed on the event's schedule for June 18, according to The New York Times and The Washington Post.

Princess Kate's absence comes days after she joined William at the Order of the Garter service in Windsor on Monday, June 16. Kate also recently attended the Trooping the Colour, the annual birthday celebration for King Charles, on Saturday, June 14.
The Princess of Wales was previously absent from Royal Ascot in June 2024 while she was undergoing cancer treatment. Days before the event that year, Kate had shared in a statement that she was "making good progress" in her cancer battle but that "as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days."
Kate said at the time that she was "looking forward" to attending some public engagements over the following months. Still, she noted that she was "learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty."
Kate soon stepped back into the public eye, and by September, she announced that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment. She has since appeared at numerous events and in January revealed her cancer is in remission. She said at the time that she remained "focused on recovery."
"As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal," she said. "I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to."
